Metamorphosis of Costs and Creativity:

Writer: ABIOYE Opeyemi JosephABIOYE Opeyemi Joseph

From a solitary dollar to 920 echoing coins,

Liquid energy, once affordable at 615 naira per liter,

Now a luxury that whispers tales of inflation's grip.

The humble egg crate, once a modest 3,500 naira,

Now stands as a testament to changing tides,

While the cement's weighty presence, priced at 5,200 naira,

Builds not just structures, but also narratives of economic shifts.

A bag of life-sustaining aqua, once a mere 350 naira,

Now dances with the currents of escalating value,

And the staple grain, rice, crowned at 45,000 naira,

Tells a tale of sustenance becoming a realm of privilege.

Transport finds itself tripled, a journey through shifting winds,

While shelter, doubled in cost, offers a haven shadowed by expense,

Salaries, stagnant for most, with a few bankers tasting change,

A symphony of inequality conducted in fiscal chords.

Amidst this intricate dance of numbers, survival perseveres,

People treading on tightropes, loans upon loans,

Juggling borrowed fragments to compose a livelihood,

A fragile equilibrium sustaining the tapestry of existence.

Yet threads are fraying, the threshold strains,

Invisible walls of survival begin to crumble,

A whisper in the air foretells of a breaking point,

Where the impoverished might find their plates emptied, the opulent untouched.

In this complex weave of scarcity and plenty, creativity blooms,

As society strives to reinvent its narrative and script a new verse,

Where resilience, resourcefulness, and empathy intertwine,

Heralding a future where the chasm between haves and have-nots finds mending.
